In the middle of the days of the ‘Mobility Week for Good’ and before the following Concours day, the ICONS hosted the ‘ICONS Night’ for the closest circle of collectors and visitors at Golf Son Vida. The circular, old castle with three towers sits enthroned impressively and puristically with a unique evening view of the city and the harbour.
Normally reserved for cultural events, Castell de Bellver was the venue for the ICONS charity night and, with its Mallorcan charm and old walls that tell a story, hosted the collectors of jewellery from the history of the automobile in a charming host gesture. People who preserve the cultural history of the automobile came together on this special evening in the parade ground inside the 13th century complex.
The reason for the evening: as a special highlight at the international get-together of aficionados, donations were to be collected for island organisations. At a time when many people are doing well, they also wanted to think about those who are not on the sunny side of life. The focus was on sustainable help for the island.
The ICONS are not an event for ‘travellers’ – the ICONS are an idea rooted on the island of an international meeting with great appeal, but also the ambition to help and support in the long term.
In the presence of many guests of honour, first and foremost the Minister of Transport of the Balearic Islands, Ms Loprena del Valle Alonso, but also the Honorary Consul of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Mr Ansgar Henrique Thüne, and many foundation presidents and board members, donations were actively collected on this evening. This was achieved through auctions and thanks to special initiatives. Special lots for the auction and sales came from the local art and gallery scene.
The following charities have been considered:
Mallorca Sense Fam
Fundacio Rana
Save the Med
Fundación Montesión Soludaria
Laureus Sports for Good Foundation
Herztat e.V.
Comida para todos – die Initiative des Lions Club Mallorca
More than 43,000 Euros were collected on this evening as a fabulous donation sum and handed over with cheques to the charities present and their representatives. ICONS was thus able to raise far more than previously thought and everyone enjoyed the evening in the wonderfully festively decorated and illuminated ‘most beautiful living room in Palma’ – the Castell de Bellver.
